Yikes! Is this a clothes line pole? These guys used to build their nests inside the piping when I was a kid; it was always a test of bravery for us to face one down and try to provoke them into flight (from a small distance)...

@Viewfinder: You're the MAN !! that is exactly what it is we have 3 poles out there and they built nests on all 6 sides .

Hey maybe you should put a cork in the ends of the pole - once the bees leave of course, especially if they are honey bees we need all the good guys we can get.
